HDR Photography Review

My thoughts on HDR photography are plain and simple. It is wonderful. To me, when I look at an HDr picture, I enter a dream world where everything looks different to me and different is good! It makes me study the picture more than I usually would for a normal shot. I feel as if I am sleeping and dreaming of beautiful things when I look at it. It almost reminds me of an Alice in Wonderland type world.

There are controversies about HDR photography and it is because some people out there think that it looks bad because of the unrealistic look and feel it gives off. Also others think it looks sloppy and burry. I suppose it's all an opinion thing but thats just what I think. I think it doesn't look unrealistic, I just think it gives it a richer feel.

2nd Photo Critique

To start off, might I just say that I have a weakness for city photography seeing as I used to live in the city. However that doesn't mean that I am in love with this photo. Don't get me wrong, it has it's good points but, it also has it's bad points as well. So to begin, why not dive into the good.
Something that I enjoy quite a bit is the color contrast in this photo. Once again I say, color is something I get captured and taken in by so the use of color by this photographer makes me very pleased. If you look in the lower left corner, you notice that the bright burnt orange color dominates here and takes over the streets and trees. I really enjoy how the photographer decided to emphasize the city street lights by making them spread throughout the streets and let them glow. It shows that he or she enjoys the feel of nighttime city life and loves the lights of the city. As do I.
Another view I have on this picture is that the orange in the bottom left really contrasts and differs from the dark blue in the top right. Because of the huge difference in color here, it draws your eyes straight towards both corners and since you can't make your eyes go everywhere, they automatically go through the entire picture and take it in. So, the photographer gains many cosmic brownie points there because instead of having one main point in the entire picture and having everyone only look at that, they look at the entire thing and that is what any photographer would want with their pictures.
Now, to move onto the bad. What I dislike is the bright light on the building in the bottom right corner. It distracts my mind and makes me confused because it is too bright for me to focus on. The picture would be much better either without the light all together or if the photographer toned it down a bit.
I suppose I should end on a few good notes. Some to die for is the lovely purple and pink streak in the sky to the left. Oh man, this one tiny spot makes everything better! It's like the last little accessory to a great outfit. It ties it all together and takes everyones breath away. And last but certainly not least, the action of the hustle and bustle of the cars on the freeway. How wonderful is it to see the city on it's toes at nighttime. That is the epitome of the city when the sun goes down and this photographer captured it just right! Overall, this picture get's my approval and a good smile as it brings back good memories and makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

First Photo Critique.

To begin, this photo is overall such a beauty. The shot makes me feel as if I can be at peace with everything even if my real world is crumbling down. It's so beautiful, it's almost as if it were fake. That is a great point in itself because, if a photo can make you feel that way than it must be good!
Now, to get to the important points. First off, I am completely drawn to the bright orange color bouncing vibrantly off of the rocks. It really brings out the color of the actual brick colored rock and makes your eyes go straight to it, even though it is in the background, which is wonderful. I also enjoy how the dark grey turquoise color of the water brings your eyes away from the rocks and contrasts with the orange colors in the picture. The two colors really balance each other out and even sometimes draw your eyes away from the rainbow which is the main focus.
Another feature in this picture that I enjoy is the fact that the sky is a darker grey in the upper right hand corner but, gets lighter as your eye draws down to the rainbow and beyond. It really gives me a sense that perhaps the background of this picture was meant to have a darker feel just so that it can balance out the rainbow and make the foreground of the picture so much more bright and vibrant. The darkness of the sky makes the rest of the picture really pop to life and makes you feel as if you were actually there.
Now, as always with the good comes the bad and the bad comes down hard. I've mentioned how much I enjoy the photographers work with color but I do not like his or her choice to make the ground look almost fake. If you really focus in on the bottom part of the picture or the sand, you will notice that it almost looks like a video game. The water washing in on the shore and the sand and footprints in it look animated. Or at least, to my eyes they do. Over editing perhaps took place here to make the outcome like this. Let's all at least be thankful that it doesn't have that animated feel throughout the entire image.
Overall, I have really become immersed into this picture and the color has something to do with it. It may be because I have a soft spot for vibrant, colorful photos or, it may also be because the photographer did such a wonderful job taking and editing this shot. The rainbow ties everything together in the end and really does bring you inside the picture as if you are sliding down it. Sure, this picture has it's pros and it's cons but they almost all balance each other out and blend all together to make this photo a wonderful and well thought out shot.

Same Subject, Different Location (15 photos)

Waking up after a good nights sleep.

Reading time is first on the list of things to do.

How about some relaxing in front of the tv.

Or perhaps I will visit my family.

Visiting the family makes me tense. Time for some relaxation and tanning.

It seems I've overheated from all sun. Meds will help me feel better.

I forgot that these meds make me go CRAZY!!! I'm flying now! ;)

Since I got yelled at for flying on the fan...I've decided to look through my mom's old yearbook.

Time to watch a classic! :)

Movies over, and I'm off to the store.

Down the stairs I go...

It's been a couple hours now, and I'm back from the store. However, I'm kinda tired so I'll get into my bathrobe.

The day is coming to an end and I think this pillow looks quite comfy.

Lying down for the night sounds good to me. It's been a long, eventful day.

Aww, mommy put my bathrobe on top of me because I was cold. How nice.
